Ranveer Singh (born July 6, 1985) is an Indian actor who works predominantly in Hindi cinema. He made his acting debut in the romantic comedy *Band Baaja Baaraat* (2010), winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He subsequently starred in the period romance *Lootera* (2013) and portrayed Peshwa Bajirao I in the historical drama *Bajirao Mastani* (2015), which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. He later portrayed Sultan Alauddin Khilji in the period drama *Padmaavat* (2018), for which he received the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor, and played the titular police officer in the action film *Simmba* (2018). Singh won further Filmfare Awards for Best Actor for his performances as an aspiring street rapper in the musical drama *Gully Boy* (2019)—for which he also performed as a playback singer and as cricketer Kapil Dev in the biographical sports drama *83* (2021). His subsequent releases include the romantic comedy-drama *Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani* (2023) and an appearance in the action film *Singham Again* (2024). He later starred in the action thriller *Dhurandhar* (2025) and its sequel *Dhurandhar: The Revenge* (2026).
